KidsDroid Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 November 2026
KidsDroid is a screen time app published by Pooja Yadav. A parent or guardian sets it up on their own child's Android phone to limit apps, give breaks and set quiet times.
In short
KidsDroid has no accounts and no ads. What it knows about your child stays on the phone. We don't collect it, sell it or share it. Only these leave the phone, and each is described below: a parent's email address, if the parent uses PIN recovery; questions a parent sends us from Help & support; crash reports, only if the parent agrees; and technical information sent by Google's ML Kit.
What is kept on the phone
This stays in KidsDroid's private storage on the phone. It isn't sent to us, and it isn't included in Android backups.
- The child's name and age group, as entered by the parent
- The apps chosen for limits, the limits and the settings
- Time used in limited apps, breaks, stars and streaks
- The parent PIN, in scrambled (salted hash) form
- The parent's recovery email address, if one was added
Parent's email address
A parent can add an email address so they can reset a forgotten PIN. It is optional. When a code is asked for, KidsDroid sends the address to our server, which emails a one-time code through our email delivery provider, Zoho (ZeptoMail). The address is used only for this.
Our server doesn't keep the address. It stores a scrambled, one-way form of it, and of the phone's internet address, for up to 24 hours, to check codes and stop abuse. Codes run out after 15 minutes. Zoho keeps records of sent emails under its own privacy policy. We never ask for an email address belonging to a child.
Help & support
A parent can ask our support team a question from Settings, then Help & support. It is behind the parent PIN and meant for adults. Nothing is sent until the parent presses Send. We receive only:
- the topic and the message the parent writes, and their later messages on the same question;
- an email address, only if the parent adds one, so we can email our replies too;
- the app version, Android version and phone model, only if the parent ticks "Send app and phone details".
We use these only to answer the question. The form asks parents not to write their child's full name or other personal details, and KidsDroid never adds the child's name or anything about the child. There is no account: the phone keeps a random code for each question, and our server keeps only a scrambled form of it. Questions and replies are kept on our server and read by our support team in our admin site. Our team gets an email that a question has arrived, without its text. Replies emailed to a parent go through Zoho (ZeptoMail).
A question is deleted 90 days after its last message. The parent can delete it sooner in the app, under My questions, which deletes it from our server at once, with the email address. Removing KidsDroid deletes the phone's copy and its codes, so the parent can no longer read or delete the question in the app. Write to the contact address below if you want it deleted sooner.
Crash reports
During setup, KidsDroid asks the parent whether to send crash reports to help us fix problems. It's off unless the parent says yes, and it can be changed any time in Settings, then Help & support. If it is off, nothing is sent.
A crash report contains only: the kind of problem (a crash, the app not responding, or one of a short list of named problems, such as a failed download of Cloud content, with its error number); where in KidsDroid's code it happened, without any error messages; the app version, Android version, phone maker and model; roughly how much memory was free; which part of KidsDroid was open; on Android 11 and newer, why the app last closed; and the time, rounded to the hour.
A crash report never contains the child's name or age, the names of apps on the phone or what the child used, screen text or camera images, the parent's email or PIN, or any ID for the phone or the person (no Android ID, advertising ID or install ID). Our server doesn't store the phone's internet address with it. Reports are sent to our server over HTTPS, grouped by where the problem happened, and deleted 90 days after they arrive. The phone keeps at most 20 waiting reports and deletes any older than 14 days.
Accessibility service
KidsDroid uses Android's AccessibilityService API, and asks for the parent's consent before it is turned on. It uses it to:
- see which app is open, so it can count play time and show the break screen;
- close a picture-in-picture video from an app that is on a break;
- if the parent turns on Uninstall protection, read the text of the phone's settings, installer and Play Store screens and of uninstall messages on the home screen, to spot pages about KidsDroid and stop a child turning it off or removing it without the parent.
This is checked on the phone. Screen text isn't saved, and nothing read through this service is sent or shared.
Camera
The camera is used only for the exercise challenge, and only if the parent allows it. Video is analysed on the phone to count moves. It is never saved or sent.
Google ML Kit
The exercise challenge uses Google's ML Kit, which runs on the phone. Pictures and video are not sent to Google. ML Kit can send Google technical information to keep it working and to measure its performance:
- device information, such as the manufacturer, model and Android version;
- app information, such as the package name and version;
- performance metrics, event types and error codes;
- an identifier for the installation.
It doesn't include the child's name or anything from the camera. See Google's ML Kit data disclosure and the Google Privacy Policy.
Cloud content
If the parent chooses Cloud, KidsDroid downloads challenges and wallpapers from our server. The request carries the app's version and nothing about the child. Like most web servers, ours sees the phone's internet address when it connects.
Fingerprint
Fingerprint unlock is optional and handled by Android. KidsDroid only learns whether the check passed. It never sees the fingerprint.
Notifications
While KidsDroid is on, it shows a notice on the phone saying so. If the parent allows notifications, it also warns before a break or a quiet time.
Children
KidsDroid is meant to be installed and set up by a parent or guardian, on a phone used by their own child. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. The parts that send anything (PIN recovery, Help & support and the crash report choice) are behind the parent PIN and meant for adults. KidsDroid must not be used to watch anyone else.
Keeping and deleting data
Information on the phone stays until it is changed in KidsDroid or the app is removed. To remove KidsDroid, open Parent mode, then Settings, then Uninstall protection, and tap Uninstall KidsDroid. Uninstalling deletes everything kept on the phone.
On our server: PIN recovery data is deleted within 24 hours. Help & support questions are deleted 90 days after their last message, or at once when the parent deletes them in the app. Crash reports are deleted 90 days after they arrive; they hold nothing that could tell us which phone sent them, so we can't find one person's reports to delete them sooner. You can ask us to delete a question at the contact address below. Data held by Google and Zoho is covered by their policies.
Security
Information is kept in storage only KidsDroid can read. Network connections to our server and to outside services use HTTPS.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
